These SQUIRRELs have two booms. After the first long boom is fully raised the short boom raises automatically. The biggest advantage in this is the very short machine length and manoeuverability at all times but with more height only when required.
 The advantage of the Double Boom is:
- Similar cage overhang at any height
- Very compact for its height
- Simple to operate (automatic)
- Caster wheel weight only increases slightly as the boom is raised (more weight and traction for the drive wheels)
 Crab Steer Drive Wheels 20º
Drive wheel crab steer from 20º left to 20º right. This can be adjusted using a joystick switch from within the cage. This has the effect of allowing the cage to overhang from either side without having any serious affect to the stability of the Squirrel.
Cage Side Swing 60º
Cage swings from 60º right to 60º left. This operation is operated using the left foot along with the crab steer drive wheels to provide excellent side overhang while it still allows the operator of the Squirrel to drive in a straight line.
Pilot Operated Hydraulic Controls
Small controls (remote pilot proportional hydraulic valves) are fitted into the cage; these only require low volume and low pressure which operates the main drive controls at the base of the Squirrel. This allows for small hydraulic tubes to be inside the boom. The valves work like a "power assist" so that the foot controls become even softer and smoother to operate.
Line pressure is significantly reduced as the high pressure hoses are now only very short.
Powerful Drive System
The shorter high pressure hoses increase the power and efficiency available. Hydraulics have the capacity to handle steep and adverse conditions.
Engine Quiet No Vibration
SQUIRREL has a spacious fully enclosed lockable engine compartment providing ample room to service a range of engines. Standard with Vanguard petrol 21hp with an optional 3 cylinder water cooled Kubota 23hp diesel.
Hydraulic Three Speed
Three speed is a standard feature which operates independently from the variable engine rpm, enabling the operator to select a wide range of speeds for faster operation and travelling. The top speed can only be operated when the cage is at low height.
 Dual caster wheels
Two independent large diameter caster wheels with an additional horizontal pivot provide a very smooth ride over uneven terrain. As one wheel drops into a wheel rut the other stays at the original level; effectively the height is halved. This allows the operator to comfortably work safely and quickly. These wheels also greatly reduce the possibility of bogging because of their independent rolling action.
Genuine Foot Controls
The SQUIRREL is a machine with unique foot controls, giving three dimensional movement without the operator shifting his feet. A wide seat belt holds the operator directly above the foot pedals giving a safe and comfortable working position. The fully adjustable spring centred foot pedals allow you to continue working with both hands free AT ALL TIMES. This proven feature alone makes the SQUIRREL the most efficient machine.
 True all-terrain
All models are true all-terrain machines. The 657 comes standard with 31"x15.5x15" 8 ply tyres. Optional extra is bogey wheel drives the same as the 807 model which has two 26"x12x12" 8 ply. 0.8m diameter x 0.37m wide 31" drive and caster wheels with a powerful Three speed hydraulic system enabling them to negotiate undulating terrain.
Safety Throughout
The 807 2B squirrel has a SWL of 180kg is approved on slopes up to 15º at full height with cage side swing and crab steer in the least favourable position.
